Sustainable Tuesday: Unsustainable Things

In honor of Nanowrimo being next month I thought I would take today to write as many words as possible even though I’m tired. I’m starting at 5:47.

Speaking of Nanowrimo, if you followed me because of it, I will be posting updates on Sundays.

So the title of this post is because I thought why not talk about things that I find unsustainable and why I think that.

1 : My blog…

A. Yes. Sadly with Nanowimo coming up my blog will be hard to sustain. Don’t worry I’ll still be posting as normal.

B. I have started working on Thursdays. I may have a job on most Wednesday’s and some Fridays. And hopefully soon I’ll be housekeeper of an Air BnB. So my habit of writing the post just before I publish them is starting to get unsustainable.

2 : Makeup.

A. My wallet can’t afford any makeup. Especially the super nice, sustainable, kind. My skin is mostly clear and so I don’t care.

B. If you ask me about Sunscreen I have opinions on that subject that could be a blog post by themselves.

3 : Movies and Shows

A. Having a TV. It can really eat up your time. Even if you have it on for background noise, I find that the visuals are super distracting. Play some music or get an audio book instead.

B. Going to the Movies. Not only do you have the cost of the ticket, but often people make a special trip. If you must go, don’t get a snack, I’ve heard that movie theatre popcorn is one of the most expensive things you can buy per once.

4 : Having food made for you

A. Visiting restaurants. Maybe my mom is a good cook. Maybe I have annoying dietary restrictions. But often when I visit a restaurant I come home thinking I could have easily made something just as good for less money. Sometimes I feel like I could have even done better. So why eat out.

B. Having food delivered. This has all the problems of the visiting a restaurant, but now you also have a lot of trash and maybe dishes to wash. Yeah, no.

C. (Yay finally a C) Buying prepared food. There is really no occasion to buy pre-prepared. It is either more expensive and keeps less long. Or it doesn’t taste as good. Or is full of really odd chemicals. Except for granola, fruit, chia, nut, etc. bars (these can be a bit difficult to make) everything is simple enough to make at home.

5 : Not Being educated.

I don’t mean you must go to college and get a degree. I mean do you due diligence. Learn all you can about things before you start talking about doing them. If you want to get solar power, make sure you have enough money to pay the massive start up costs. If you want to go vegan, make sure to know what you need to eat. Just be educated, your degree doesn’t matter nearly as much as what you know.

I’ve written just over 500 words and it is now 6:14, I think this bodes well for next month. If you have actually read through all my ramblings, thank you. That is so nice. I don’t know why you did so if you wouldn’t mind leaving me a comment explaining I would be grateful.

Awhile ago I mentioned changes would be coming to my blog. So far they are pretty minor, but I’ve seen them. To be honest I don’t know how I want my blog to change. I’ve cut down on how many people are following me. I may be putting together a little giveaway soon.

It’s not really been mentioned on here, but I’ve recently started a booktube channel and so that will be cutting down on my free time. I have fairly big sewing plans this month. I’m re purposing so much fabric. And yeah, work exists.

Looking forward to not getting any comments.

But for those crazy people who may be still interested I’m now at 6:22 and a word count of 676.

Side question how much would you pay for a super awesome sustainable Blue Jean Skirt?

Tell me about your NaNoWriMo project this year! Give me a blurb!

Come to Containsia a place with no gluten and no magic. Hiding from the Empire there maybe Centaurs, Dragons, Dryads, Dwarves, Elves, Fairies, Goblins, Lecrans, Nyads, Onontets, Trolls, Werecats, Weregoats, Werewolves and the occasional talking animal.

Zimran has a few problems. On one hand Zimran has “The Mark of Goozon”, on the other he has “The Mark Dracone”, in the back of his mind is the fact that both he and his sister is of age to wed, never mind the fact that the shunned have been in contact with him.

What’s the genre?

Epic. YA. High. Fantasy. With, No, Magic. There, Will, Be, Dragons. And, Elves. And, Fairies. So…

Describe your MC in three words.

Dragon-rider, Brother, Stressed

Without spoilers, describe your villain in three words.

Empire, Evil, Cliche?

Not to be vague, but this is book one of a (hopefully) five book series, so …

What is your goal? (the traditional 50K? 20K? 5K? or……. 100K?)

Traditional, Traditional, Traditional. I want to hit 50K, but it’s not to important.

Is this your first draft? Second? Third?

First draft, attempt six….

Yes. This story has been around a bit.

Are you starting a new project (or draft), or continuing an existing one?

Starting a new draft. None of the existing drafts are up to snuff, but I will reread them all.

What is your favorite time to write in the day?

Mid morning?

Where are you going to write?

It depends. Hopefully on my desk in my room. But I’m still sharing with my sisters and the desk isn’t made yet. Probably on my lap, in my chair, in the living room. Possibly on my bed.

Computer or paper?

Computer, but I may switch to paper. There are advantages to both.

NaNoWriMo is a huge commitment!! How are you going to make time to write?

By reading less. I’m considering almost completely stopping reading on my computer and using that time to write.

Are you going to participate in local or online NaNoWriMo events? (e.g. kick-off parties in your city, write-ins, virtual writing sprints…)

Maybe… Yes! I’m hoping my boss librarian will let me hold a write-in or two in the local library, but I’ll probably do some sprints as well.

Do you write from beginning to end or skip around?

Beginning to end. At a later point some scenes may skip around. But it is supposed to be beginning to end.

Planner or pantser? (or plantser?)

I’m planning. It is slow going. Last time I pantsed.

What will be your go-to NaNoWriMo snack?

Cabbage! Private jokes from Camp Nano aside. Apples, Oranges, Cabbage.

Choice of caffeine? (or no caffeine?)

Mostly no, but I’ll have a cup of black tea on occasion.

Any rewards for milestone achievements? For finishing NaNoWriMo?

Ummm…. Maybe I should do this…. Ummm…. I’m trying to save money…. Ummm…. I really think this is a good idea, but I’ve never really done it. I don’t know what to make my rewards… Mom suggested that I get a sticker for every day I write. What the final reward will be is beyond me. Give me your suggestions.

Share a tip for other NaNo-ers!

Plan ahead. You probably know what days you definitely  won’t be able to write on. (I’m looking at you Thanksgiving) so plan ahead and bump up our word count goal accordingly.

How are you feeling about NaNoWriMo? (Excited?! Nervous!? Terrified?!)

Not terrified. I don’t put that much concern into the matter.

Share an aesthetic for your NaNoWriMo novel!

Now to be perfectly honest I’ve never made an aesthetic for anything, so tell me how I did.

The vast majority of these are from Pinterest. Because I realized I wanted to do this tag on Sunday the 13th, last Friday I went to the library and did some pin-surfing. If you want to see other options I considered for this aesthetic and more behind the scenes stuff check out my Containsia board.

I want to tag these wonderful people!

Bella Putt

Ariana

Jenna

Sunny

Megs

Brooklyne

Sarah

I thought there was a couple more people I wanted to tag, but I can’t find them right now, so I’ll edit it if I remember.

If you want to encourage me or keep track of how I’m doing you can buddy me on NaNoWriMo or buy me a coffee.

I added the tag to my bookstagram

Titles Are To Important

I’m doing NaNoWriMo again this year. I plan on posting more about it on Sunday.

I’ve acquired a Ko-fi account. I’m still setting it up but I thought you should know.

I’ve posted a video to IGTV and since you can only watch it on a smart phone, I posted the video to YouTube as well. But wait, before you go over to my Instagram to watch it I must tell you something. I have two Instagram’s. The one on my blog is more for my blog, it’s about sewing and my normal life. The video is on my other account, my bookstagram. If you want to see my bookish self check out @authors.ace.

If you are wondering where the Ingalls are, they are waiting for it to be dry enough for me to remember to take them outside to go a camping trip. I may not mind camping out in the rain myself, or even taking a book out into the rain for a quick photo, but my paper dolls are super precious.

MY AVERAGE RATING FOR 2018

My first review of the year
it was amazing
I loved this book. Having read about Little Lord Fauntleroy from books and stories written around the time it came out I wasn’t certain I would like it, but I do. It has just the right amount of English flippery and American sensibleness.

My NanoWriMo Movel/My WIP

I’ve written 18,227 words on my first novel this Nanowrimo. I expect that when I finish my story it will only be around 25,000 words when it is finished. When I remember that it is a Cinderella rewrite and Cinderella can be satisfyingly told with just five short paragraphs, I feel much better.

In the past I’ve mentioned O as being important, but he is also one of my favorites. He is Aleah’s step brother! He is also the future spouse of the narrator. O is one of the three characters with descriptions, (yes I know it will need editing) his is the shortest.

This is a very random snippet

vants often left us a lunch there. We’d stop and pick up or drop off those who had to be elsewhere and then we go on a ways to a place where the water got very deep. The boats would be tied together and an anchor would be dropped, and lunch would be eaten. It was always wisest to where something that could be swum in on one of those trips, for after lunch the anchor would be pulled up, the boats tied to someone’s ankle and we would swim through that section. We were only able to all go on floats during the weekend, but I’m sure your parents went on some by themselves.

R’s wedding was held just before we went back to finishing school. Prince S was invited, but none of the rest of our group was. As we traveled back to finishing school V told me about the wedding. Apparently it was very traditional and not much else, they only stayed up til midnight.

“Why are you telling them about R’s wedding, it was the most boring event of our lives?”

“Mommy, Daddy. We’re aw

I’m excited to finish my story. I must admit ending Nanowrimo with a very clearly unended story is great, you end with a WIP.

# My NaNoWriMo Novel

By the end of today I plan on having written at least 16,000 words. I know, I’m half way to the standard. Life has been happening and I am easily distracted.

I’ve read many blog posts about how far people are along, but I’m not doing well. I have changed my goals somewhat, I now plan to update every day. I also hope to have 30,000 words written when I’m done.

If you’re reading this and taking part in NaNoWriMo, once you’re done with your break, keep writing.

I just got distracted by the thought of Z’s engagement ring. It’s one of the few pictures on the Pinterest board.

I ought to run. Adios.

My NaNoWriMo Novel @

Yes this month is over a third gone. Yay!!!

I am behind, just today I updated my word count to 12,000. I started out really well, but life has been happening. I visited my grandparents, I went to the Mennonites, I worked on my shop.

I did make a Pinterest board for my novel.

Last week I said Z was my favorite character, but this week she moved aside for E. E is the seamstress they hire to make Aleah’s dress. She is based very lightly on one of my greatest fictional inspirations, Creel.

I also may have forgotten that Cinderella is supposed to have glass slippers.

This post is super late, but when there is no internet for the day, what can I do.
