A Judge Of Israel

I felt I should post today, but I had to many half thought out ideas.

Do I talk about how the Bible is very clear about homosexuals.

Do I talk about how Judges is full of stories that are so crazy, that they are almost funny the 20th time through.

Or am I supposed to talk about the guy in these verses.

After him, Abdon son of Hillel, from Pirathon, led Israel. He had forty sons and thirty grandsons, who rode on seventy donkeys. He led Israel eight years. Then Abdon son of Hillel died and was buried at Pirathon in Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites. Judges 12:13-15

He’s not the person we know the least about in the Bible, but what we know of him is odd. He led/judged Israel eight years and then he died. Why is he even in the Bible?

Abdon Led Israel in a fairly prosperous time. He had the money to have huge numbers of kids and give them all a donkey. If you go back and do the math he seems to have ruled about 17 years after Jephthah and probably about 23 years since the last big uproar.

I think he and the others like him are to remind us that sometimes your life kind seem really unremarkable, but if you are doing what is right, you get a mention in God’s book.

Keep on following God.
